Remington 870 Express

Hello!
With the close iterative feedback from an industry professional who is also my mentor, my skills were strapped to rockets and sent to new heights. With the accumulative knowledge from my past weapon projects, I aimed to improve everything I learned. Normally A project like this would have me use Zbrush for the extremely fine details, however, I was challenged to stick completely to a hard surface workflow inside my 3D software of choice. Doing a weapon without the extreme detail from sculpting software was quite informative.
This Remington 870 Express from the Wingmaster range has by far been the most enjoyable portfolio piece I have worked on. I felt like I was able to stretch my legs and add just that little extra geometry to make the weapon stand out. The project took 10 days to complete, from functional research to the upload of this post. After hearing that weapons from the Call of Duty franchise reach into the 20k tris range, and the fact that Unreal Engine 5 can Nanite the guns since they're rigid body, I decided to not hold back and use my new ~20k tris range.
Did it pay off? I hear you say. Yes. Yes, it did.

In all its glory, the Remington 870 Express, Wingmaster series with the Marmoset Viewer.

I previously had 7 or so lights in the scene, but Marmoset Viewer screamed at me, so I reduced it to a three-point light setup.

I hope you like it!
