This model is part of my Master's Degree. I want to share with you, my first commissioned piece of work intended for use in animated movies inside Unreal Engine 5. It is the Swedish Karl Gustav Kulsprutepistol m45 from 1945. The asset was modelled inside Blender 3.6.5 using a hard surface approach whilst following the industry standard "High Poly - Low Poly" workflow. The finished model comprises 4 individual meshes such as the stock, body, magazine, and 9mm ammunition. Ultimately, the goal of this project was to explore texturing further and to increase my knowledge of PBR and its functionality from a technical standpoint. I would consider this piece to be a worthy addition to my portfolio and a reminder to everyone that you can do it if you put your mind to it.
--------------------Blockout---------------------
The model was blocked out against the UE5 mannequin (Manny) and cross-referenced between old military schematics & illustrations to make sure the scale was as accurate as possible.
--------------------High Poly--------------------
A non-destructive modifier workflow was deployed to achieve the pattern on the barrel to avoid a boolean workflow.
-------------------Retopology-------------------
Removal of excess support loops and the removal of various modifiers.
---------------------Unwrap---------------------
Hand unwrapped between 1001, 1002 & 1003 because I don't trust that the pack algorithm produced a better result.

It is textured inside Substance 3D Painter 2022
